DIY Turf Upkeep Between Cleanings: What You Can Do and What to Leave to the Pros

At Squeaky Clean Turf, we believe a little regular upkeep goes a long way — but even the most diligent homeowner can’t fully replace a professional deep clean. Here’s what you can handle yourself, and where it pays to call us.

DIY: Easy Wins

• Daily/weekly hose rinse of pet zones
• Stiff-bristle brushing across the grain to keep fibers upright
• Quick debris pickup — leaves, twigs, pine needles before they get ground in
• Spot enzyme spray for fresh pet accidents (pet-safe, of course)

DIY: Don’t Bother

• Trying to clean deep urine penetration with consumer products. It just temporarily masks the odor.
• Using a pressure washer. You will damage your turf.
• Bleach, vinegar or “natural” acid mixes. Pretty much all of them harm fibers.

When to Call the Pros

• Persistent odor after rain
• Visible discoloration in pet zones
• Crunchy or stiff feel underfoot
• Annual or quarterly maintenance for warranty preservation
